Lazy replacing Bummis wrap elastic - go over the top?

Lazy replacing Bummis wrap elastic - go over the top?

Postby TheBean » Wed Dec 28, 2011 2:52 pm

Has anyone ever just sewn replacement FOE straight over the top of the gone elastic on bummis wrap covers? I know I should know this stuff  but I would never *recommend* that to anyone lol, I just am wondering if I could get away with it. I (uber lazily) really didn't want to have to do any sewing myself (more than the couple of cute ones I have already) for this bub   so am looking for the easiest way out of having bought some bung elastic ones possible. Yes?? No, suck it up and unpick??

Lastin on the outside?
unpicking would possibly leave holes in the wrap so go the lazy method!

Yes, I've done it. Not pretty, but I really don't care (they aren't pretty nappies to start off with...) nappies MUST last one more child....

I have done it, but I unpicked all the old stuff and put new FOE all the way around.

Ok, yay good enough for me lol, will give it a go today. I care far more about preserving my laziness & lack of sew-jo than them looking pretty ;)

Well they have some hecka-fat elastic now lol, but the leg holes look a muuuuuch more reasonable size  Here's hoping that they work that rolly thick, have to wait and see but even if they're a fail on actually working I'm still very proud of myself that they're not languishing in the uber 'to fix one day' pile of stuff ;)

I was too lazy to go around the back so I'm just hoping for a fat tummy baby 8-[

Forgot to ask, are you back on NZ soil, or giving birth to a wee Aussie?

Thanks H :vibes:
Omigosh I would looove rosies, how nostalgic would that be!? But I have been holding off collecting nb nappies until now because there's a box of stuff arriving next week from my SIL and I am not sure if there is a (my old?) nb nappy stash in there or not. I have zero recollection if it was her or not that I gave all my nappies to (or if they would still be alive after all these years & nieces if it was her) and I am too hopelessly introverted to figure out a polite way to ask so have just been waiting to see what turns up   If not then I will all of a sudden be on a nb nappy panic scouting mission

Leanne I'm giving birth to a nowhere-citizen! But in Australia ;)
(Which is frankly terrifying me because it's my first experience of a hospital system & it's accompanying bureaucracy and I'm finding I'm not a huge fan   )
