What about using fibreglass rods? I'm not sure of the cost but it might be worth a call to a farm supplies place or even the manufacturer to find out?

I've sewn in ties to tie the door closed or open. It's been a bit of a mission as I've wanted to size it to fit cot innersprung mattress that we kept as the kids love playing with/sleeping on, so the panels are not all the same. Here's hoping my maths is right and it works (don't tell my students if I stuff this up
