How to? Taking in a princess seam dress

Experts, I need your help. I bought this pattern: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71708830/pr ... calls-8107 and I'm currently making the dress I'm doing view F, minus the fron tie, plus slightly extended shoulders for buttons to make the dress BF'ing friendly. I made a size 14, based on bust size, but should've made a 12 as it's going to be too big. I've sewn the seven panals together, but tonight I tried it and I easily have a whole panal's worth--probably 10-12cm too much before I do the zipper. What's the best way to take it in? Just bring each seam in and trim the extra? Thoughts? Experiences?

Eek - that's a lot of extra fabric to remove.
I'd try a lot of pinning to pinch out the fabric and try it on lots before cutting anything out, or restitching, check as well that your side seams stay in the correct place - ie you may find you're taking more out across the back than the front.

Maybe try googling full bust adjustment for a princess seam and see if any of that will help (although that involves upsizing the bust from a smaller size rather than the other way around)

Thanks, I think I'm going with this option. Wish I would've cut the right size in the first place! But in the end it's probably just as fast/easier than trying to take it in.

You can try reducing the seams but the difference needs to be done equally across each opposing pair of seams ifthat makes sense. You may find that you need more fabric across the front or back so can reduce accordingly. Remember if you take your seam in by 1cm you are actually taking 2cm of fabric out for each seam - so to get rid of 12cm you are actually only cutting down each seam by 1cm. The problem doing it this way is at the armholes which tend to lose shape a bit .. worth a try using a basting stitch maybe so easy to unpick?
