Silicone mold putty

Silicone mold putty

Postby anotherhopeful » Sat Apr 21, 2012 8:59 pm

Has anyone used any silicone mold putty for making molds? I need some but only a little bit and the only stuff I can find is in a 3/4 lb worth for $50 but I dont need anywhere near that much. Does anyone know where you can buy a smaller amount?

Probably not in NZ i guess!

What are you using it for and do you actually need it to set?
Depending on your application you may be able to use silicon putty earplugs - for something that is not too detailed you can get quite a good impression, but it's not permanent obviously.

Oh should have included that :D I do need it to set... I've made a number of buttons lately and am loving it, and wanting to do it more but tracing and cutting circles isn't fun when you do it lots :smt044 I have 2 molds from etsy but they are quite small, they only seem to have tiny and large on there!

Spotlight have something like this, you can make moulds from objects.

Not sure if you found what you needed but I came upon this in my random surfing this evening.

Thanks for your replies, I saw that at both places, and I wondered if it set solid or flexible? Because I couldn't work that out from reading the back. When using it for small things, its easier to be a flexible mold otherwise i'll ruin it just by trying to fish it out iykwim! :smt044 I'd be interested for sure if it sets flexible! I got some liquid stuff from trademe which has been working OK but its messy and really hard to get the finished product looking good.
