Z is doing competitive gymnastics now, he goes to Hamilton once a week to train with their boys and does the rest of his training locally. It seems at this stage that he will be entering competitions under the local club rather than Hamilton and if that theory continues I've been told he can use any leotard we choose as he is the first boy from our club to enter competitive comps and there is no exsisting boys uniform. For recreational competitions our boys wear black singlet or t-shirt and black rugby shorts, recreational competition/ training uniform for girls is sleeveless top half/aqua bottom half black with tight gymnastics boyleg shorts, and girls competitive competitions uniform is a longsleeve sparkly aqua leotard with silver and black (assuming the new ones they have just ordered aren't too different to last year). The club jacket that he will wear between apparatus is white and black with aqua/ white/ black logo.
Boys gymnastics leotards are really hard to come by in NZ, most clubs get their uniforms specially made and pay heaps of $$$$ so I'm considering designing/ sewing it myself. I'm probably going to opt for a boyleg style unitard (which he will wear black shorts over) and the best option I can think of so far is to try drafting from a combination of the fitted singlet and bike shorts he wears for training under his shorts. I suck at drafting so am very open to better ideas. I currently considering trying for either of these top colour change options
aqua around arms/ black body (without arm binding as that scares me)

or aqua shoulders/ silver sides/ black body

Claire did I remember seeing a tutorial of yours somewhere???
Also interested in advise on where to get appropriate fabrics, the boys ones are more a matt nylon lycra as opposed to cotton lycra or shiny nylon lycra
I have an overlocker but not a coverstitch machine
Help!!!
