Kiva sounds great and purchase on the first day/ payment made by a certain date with a draw is much more fun too.

\:D/ Getting excited that the pads are going to do some good :D

Oh Louise, so sorry I didn't get back to your PM.   I read it just as we were going out, and thought "I must reply to that later," and then completely forgot and never went back to my PMs.

Sounds like you've got it all well underway - yes do list in Trading Post. I will help with or organize packaging/posting, payments etc. Also happy to deal with Kiva stuff (unless someone else wants to), I LOVE Kiva and think it is an excellent idea, because we can just keep reinvesting the money into different women's groups. :vibes: :vibes:

Don't feel bad Louise, you've tried really hard and there's no way its your fault the way things worked out. It was obviously more tricky than we first anticipated, but that's OK, we have the power to still make this TNN generosity work for us. :D

Gotta fly, but will be back, and thank you so much for driving this forward (sorry again for not replying - how rude!).
Nic

What about a World Vision Microlending account instead? With Kiva, the money comes back so it relies on someone reinvesting the funds all the time.

With World Vision they reinvest the money when the loan is repaid so it is a donation to World Vision instead of a loan.

Sounds good, it could get problematic if someone has to keep rolling it over.

Karen- how big are your postage bags? Quite a few people are wanting two packs - do you think it would work out cheaper to send them in $4 NZ post bags (which I have) or shall I pass them on to you to send in Fastways bags?

Shall we go with the World Vision donation then?

I'm not sure the small envelopes would fit more than one pack, so cheaper with the $4 ones.

World Vision seems like an easier option. Don't think it will be easy to manage an ongoing investment so easier for it to be a donation.

Ok, I will give people who only buy one pack the option of sending via your envelopes and will send the others using mine.

Unless we hear from anyone against going with World Vision in the next few days we will go with that.

You can make a straight donation to Kiva, it doesn't have to be a loan. And as far as I can tell, Kiva doesn't have any religious background.
