Love the vintage vest! Wondering whether anyone has knitted it or do you know whether it would be a NB or bigger size? (I'm wanting to do a singlet in 3-6-month size).

The chest measurement around underarm is about 41cm and length from top of shoulder approx 27cm - looks like NB to me, but then I've forgotten how little they are! DD's NB things are buried in the shed and it would take me about a year to get them out

It's definitely NB. My boy was 8lb5oz and here's a photo of him wearing it at a couple of weeks old at 9lbs, not a lot of room left in it! I think 5kg would be the max weight roughly speaking. I actually made the arms and length longer in hopes it would last longer, but the chest measurement hasn't allowed for that.

It's a pretty simple pattern, in theory it wouldn't be too hard to add a few extra pattern repeats and increases to make it the next size up.

Thanks for that, Khai. The vest looks gorgeous (and so does your little boy!). I would love to be able to adapt the pattern but think I need a bit more knitting under my belt before I try. Do you know whether using 4ply instead of 3ply would make it a lot bigger?

No, it wouldn't - I used 4ply (and the specified size needles)

Someone experienced in modifying patterns may be able to help, 8ply and 4mm needles would make it bigger, but I'm not sure by how much as I've never tried it before.
