You could try Shar's newborn Pattern.

YOu could use the wee weka pattern and do a snap up rise on it. So it wil fit from day one them with cross over arms

So do I need to persist with making more NB naps, or will Ditto's OSFA be ok from the start? What do you reckon? Sorry for the slight threadjack :oops:

You could make ditto's OSFA pattern and just make it a little smaller, a little baby may swim in it. Personally I'd go for a hire kit to get through NB phase and then you could go into the OSFA ones?

Why not do Dittos one and if it is too big use it as a cover and the insert as the nappy? That way you are covered. If you are having a big baby dittos pattern will fit.

I made one last night and I really like it. It fits my we man on the smallest leg tabs and the waist is at the smallest setting but not crossed over. I did small seam allowances though too. YOu could put an extra snap on the leg elastic too I guess but only put it 1 1/2 cm from the first one to make the legs smaller for a tiny NB and fold down the tummy top as the cross over arms would hold it in place for a NB as they dont move

Does anyone use a size 16 snap on the elastic? I only have size 20 snaps and dies but thought that size 16's might be less bulky.

I am loving this pattern. I have made a couple now (for other people) - just need to get on and make one for Miriam and try it on her as she is over 8lb so it should fit her.

I like how professional looking my nappies come out - the tabs/wings look great unlike my usual wonky wings!

Ditto - do you usually sew the back elastic last or is that just for this pattern? I have always done this first so just wondered..

I have only made one nap last night so far from this pattern and I used size 16 snaps on the elastic thought smaller the better

THought I owuld make you one Louise too. Just have not got that far yet. So it will come

I use 16s for the leg snaps. I've written that as an option in my latest version of the instructions - if you've got old instructions I can send through the latest ones if you like.

The nappies fit my friend's baby from 8lb - I didn't see her in them, but heard that they fit fine.

I always sew the back casing last. But it doesn't really matter - whatever works for you!

WOW this is the best nappy we have ever had! And it was super easy to make (I thought it was going to be really tricky) I am loving it! And like Lousie said, it comes out so tidy and professional looking. I used size 20 snaps on the elastic as that is all I have and it does not seem bulky.
Here is the nappy on both my boys,
DS1, 2.5yr 15kg

DS2, 4mo 8kg

Well done, Sarah! That looks great. Can't believe your little boy is that old already :shock:

I made B his first pocket from this pattern today :oops:

(I'd made them for lots of other kids, but not him.) He's 2.5 and about 12kg.
