If you dont have a snap press or a drill press that you can use to put your snaps on with what else can you use? Is it possible to purchase a hand held press, would spotlight have anything like that?

Spotlight have the little metal dome sets, which you bang on with a hammer, they're pretty cheap. I'm not sure the metal is up to all the wetness you get with nappies. I have some really old fitted nappies which my aunt used on her girls 20+ years ago, and a couple of the domes are a bit rusty.

You really need the dies and some kind of press for the plastic snaps. There might be a tnner with a snap press in your area who can lend you their press.

To be honest, I'd stick to velcro for now I invested in an el-cheapo snapper-thingee from Spotlight in the early days, and it just wasn't up to the job. It could only cope with one thin layer of fabric, and the snaps for it were hard to find and really expensive.

We used only velcro on our naps until recently when I splurged on a press, and they were absolutely fine, and perfectly tidy. DH actually prefers them to snaps because they're easier to do up! Also unfortunately easier to undo for sneaky wee possums, but that's another story

Carley - I may be able to help! I'm in Rotorua too and am busy trying to get my DH to hurry up and finish my snap press. This may be in the incentive he needs. My FIL found an old drill press at a church garage sale and grabbed it for me as he knew I wanted one for a snap press. I have the dies already so I just need DH to figure out a bit to go in the drill press to attach the die too. We're off to Bunnings tomorrow so I'll nag him into finding something there and getting it sorted for me. Then I'd be more than happy for you to borrow it and give it its maiden run!!
