A lady I know, along with a whole load of other ladies, makes blankets to be sent to children in orphanages in Romania, they are made of what she calls 'peggy squares' - they sort of look like patchwork to me. The child gets the blanket and keeps it all the way through their life in the orphanage, i.e. it becomes their own rather than belonging to the orphange.
They need leftover wool - part balls are fine - to knit them with. Wool is preferable as its so cold although they do apparently intermix squares with part wool part acrylic too.
So all you knitters, if you have bits of wool sitting there that are too much to throw away but not enough to really use, or will just sit around forever waiting to be used, maybe you could consider PMing me for my address and send them over here and I will pass them on

Or Chch people I am sure I can come to a nappicino and pick them up (might even be on time next time

).
You know who I am! Mum to DS1(6), DS2(4), DD(4), DS3(3).
