Cloth Nappy Folds

Cloth Nappy Folds

Postby ClothConvert » Fri Nov 19, 2004 11:04 am

This is a good place to post the links to the many websites that shows/describe nappy (flats or prefolds) folds.

The following is what is known as the pinless (or as Abbe dubbed it the "painless") fold posted several times by Lovemyone of the Everybody Board.

PINLESS NEWBORN FOLD FOR FLAT CLOTH NAPPIES

"When my son was a newborn I used a fold that is called a pinless fold that the hospital showed me, and used that until he was a bit older (around 4mths)and weeing a lot more. It is quite bulky, but when they don't move around much, it works fine. To do that one you fold the flat nappy diagonally into a large triangle, fold the top long edge down about 5-10cm (depends on the size of your baby), flip it over so the flap is on the floor side, put the baby on top, pull up the bottom flap up between baby's legs and at the thighs roll the edges in to fit the legs and catch any runny poo, bring each side wing over the top and down between the legs and up the back of the baby and tuck into the flap at the back. I hope that makes sense, it really is quite simple."

LOL at the original post - that was me back on EBB.

Ditto, I brought my flats new from Farmers, they've done me fine and no probs, probably not the thickest, but then they are prob slimmer fitting than a thicker fabric. I think if I was doing it again though I'd buy 2nd hand and pre-washed - the amount of fluff I lost of those nappies (it would remain in the machine even if you couldn't see it - perhaps it went into the inside and came out in the water and would attach to my husband's work pants and used to drive him bonkers) went on until my ds was about 12mths old.
