Brother XL-4030 (17years old)
Brother - New Home (? as this all it says on it) (37 years old and Mums, I stole it) - this is great from heavier work and has really cool embrodery stiches on it.

And my Globe Lock M-34 Overlocker

And have had a ancient Pfaff that we could never get to work (like 20 yrs ago)

I am a BROTHER girl

I have taken over the dinning room and table so everything stays out,( we brought a smaller table for corner of large lounge for our dinning area.)

I have a Bernette 720 machine. It is okay - pretty sturdy but does what I want it to. Was 2nd hand from someone in my sewing class a few years ago.

Just went and took it in to be serviced today - the guy there told me that Janome and Elna are good brands, and he'd recommend a Janome over Bernina. Said that Bernina is a more expensive brand and Janome is just as good. So I am on the lookout for a new machine, might take a while until I get one though.

I've got a Janome Mylock overlocker, off TM, it's 3 thread. Takes me an hour to rethread so I hate it It is okay for overlocking sweatshirting etc but not open seams for example microfibre or wipes. I would like a 4 thread with differential feed someday.

Kat, there's a Bernina 1230 on TradeMe at the moment - at $700 at the moment. A bit pricey, but that was my dream machine - of course it'd come up now, when I've bought another machine Although I am happy with what I have, so I shouldn't be annoyed

There's also another one - a Bernina 930 that someone has no idea of the value of it (well they do now cos someone told them!) and it was at $32 when I saw it earlier.

Elna 2005 have no idea how good it is at nappy fabrics as it has been in storage until now, hoping to get some time to sew tomorrow it like pul

Brother Lock 760DE overlocker, on loan from my mum. Goes nicely on everything except microfibre (took 2 servicings and several broken needles to figure out it was just that fabric ) I've got it going as well as I can on it now by adjusting everything I can adjust... but it still does weird things sometimes and then when I want to sew something else I have to change all the settings again

I don't know why he would be paid to say that - it's not the guy at the Kilbirnie sewing shop, it's the Berhampore guy.
I already have a Bernette, and he told me that they are the cheaper version of the Bernina, but not great machines (ie Bernina is much better than Bernette). Of course he could be talking cr@p, but seeing as he repairs all the machines I thought I'd be able to trust his judgement (and I know your DH repairs machines too).

Will see what comes up at a good price.
