Onabear-- For a SM you would normally need about 150-200gms with 8-10 ply. For 12 ply I would double the amount. The more the better because, inseams are always different for each baby. HTH

Cabbettenz--I'm sorry I thought I had PMed you back that the Medium 12ply was taken :(
Is there another size you can do? I have 8 and 12 ply left for XL. The NB 10 ply is pending.

YW. For medium in 10 ply I would use at least 300gms. It also depends on your inseam. I normally have 8oz of colorway plus 2 oz of trim and I'm sure once she's bigger I'll need a little more (I only used 3.5oz plus trim for the pants in the picture, they're a large on 10 ply but, they're too short for my tall skinnie minnie lol).

Hi there

I took over knitting aran meduim for Gids mum as the pattern was more complicated than she thought.

I am throwing in the towel too.

8ply yarn should be knitted on 4mm needles not 5... and I have a raft of *suggestions* however as not too many are positive - I'll just bow out and say that this very experienced knitter can't / wont fight the pattern any longer.

sorry.

Thanks for letting me know.
I think the confusion has come from the fact that US and other European countries have different ply weights. In the US aran is 10 ply and worsted is 10 ply. However several sources have shown 8 ply as aran weight yarn. Please PM me or email me the issues you have other than the yarn weight issue.

Hi ya,
I am having the same wool weight/needle/gauge issues as Happi is, as you know from our PM convos. The test knit is turning out preemie size and very dense for a small size and as you haven't replied to the last PM I sent you plus I am unable to access the pattern tester part of the forum. I'm really sorry but I am going to hand in my test knitting hat too :) I hope you find someone who can do the gauge/wool weight/needles thing, maybe an inexperienced/new knitter would be best :)
