April 2010 Craft Focus - Get Ready for Winter!

Ok I have been organised this month!

so far i have made two pairs of pjs for mikaela out of flannette (print) and 4way cotton strech (plain) the pink ducks has a ruffled bottoms on the pants and the purple/black set is just straighcut.


Also made two long sleeved merino tops

Those duck pj's are too cute!!! So makes me wish I could sew!!!

I love that black and white flower flannel, I bought 2m just cos it was pretty lol.

So far this month I have made a skirt for me.

I've finished another merino top for DS, woudl take a photo but he's wearing it with backwards pants, a bib and socks with sandals right now.. I went to cook dinner and came back to my baby dressed all weird, DP must have changed his nappy lol.

So thats 3 merino tops now I have a denim/cotton skirt to make for myself (can't wear pants on wet days cos my short legs mean they sock up all the water, so winter = skirts with tights lol) maybe a pair of pjs for DS, but he might be ok with the ol pairs we have already, definately at least 1 pair of pants for him though.

Also have to dye some wool to be knit into handwarmers for flatmate's bday in May cos she's always cold and I love my handwarmers in winter

mum2girls, I need to make myself some winter clothes too. I might check out the local fabric shops for some thickish knit this week, and make myself some more long-sleeve tops. I have a black one that I made last year and I love it, so I might undo it and use it as a pattern to make more.

I think DD is pretty much sorted, just a dress that is already cut out and needs sewn up. Then will have to buy her some winter shoes/boots to wear when we go out places, and maybe make her another woollen hat. Actually, I might knit her a woollen singlet/vest to wear too, one that could go over the top of a plain long-sleeve tshirt.

DH, well, he has asked me to knit him a balaclava to wear when he bikes to/from work, which is fair enough cos it's pretty cold at 6am in winter. Should probably get onto that soon

ive just made mikaela some boots for winter!!! lol well actually one boot, i still need to do the other one and it is a but small so thinking of passing them on as a gift and making some bigger ones for dd.

They have leather soles and are lined with ultra fluffly polar fleece and the other side is purple minky and funky cotton print the go half way up her leg

Here is the start of mine. A fleece hoody for DS and some matching olive cords (photos don't show colour that well). I have three more pairs of cords cut out (different colours) and planning to do some over the head sweat tops since they are so hard to buy these days. Ignore the wonky sewing and crooked pockets on the hoody. I was mainly just trying the pattern out as I'm thinking of doing one in merino.
