Size of snaps - 14, 16 & 20s

Post by mwhitt » Sat Sep 11, 2010 7:26 am

I've got a wee project in mind and would like to know the differences in sizes between the snaps. I currently only have the 20's in my possession.

Are the 14s too small and fiddly and do they hold as well? I would prefer small but don't want to go too small.

Ill measure mine for you shortly, but have you considered getting a green beans snap sample card? They are a great reference, and have all 3 snap sizes on them :D

From memory the 14's and 16's the stud and socket bits are the same sizes it's just the cap that is smaller, it's been a while since I've used the smaller ones though. They are fine for things like clothing etc but I'd not use them on nappies or bibs personally.

The Greenbeans snap card was free the other day, not sure if it still is but worth keeping an eye out on their sales.

I used to have all 3 sizes. I rarely used the 14's & 16's so onsold them. One issue I had with the 14's was the very short prong - I found them unreliable to use because of this. Personally, I wouldn't consider 14's much use at all
